When you’re designing roof and floor structures it’s essential that the dimensions, strengths and spans of all structural timbers are up to the task of supporting loadings.

Building Control may ask for additional structural engineer’s calculations to prove that designs are compliant with Building Regulations, but the following span table guides may be useful to help prepare initial designs:-
